The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is a professional body founded in 1852 to represent members of the civil engineering profession worldwide. It is the oldest national engineering society in the United States. ASCE's vision is to have engineers positioned as global leaders who strive toward building a better quality of life. Its world headquarters is in Reston, Virginia. ASCE is the world's largest publisher of civil engineering information — producing more than 55,000 pages of technical content each year. The ASCE Publications Division produces 31 professional journals (available both in print and online editions), conference proceedings, standards, manuals of practice, committee reports and monographs under the ASCE Press imprint. Institute of Civil Engineers
The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) believes that civil engineers are "at the heart of society, delivering sustainable development through knowledge, skills and professional expertise." Japan Society for Civil Engineers
Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE) was established as an incorporated association in 1914 entrusted with the mission to contribute to the advancement of scientific culture by promoting the filed of civil engineering and the expansion of civil engineering activities. Since its establishment, JSCE has endeavored to achieve the above mission, through extensive activities including scientific exchange among members, researchers / promotion of science and technologies relating to the filed of civil engineering, social involvement, etc. Over the years, the JSCE membership has increased significantly from the initial 443 members to approximately 39,000 members at present, and is currently engaged in various wide-ranged activities around the world.
International Association for Bridge Engineering
The International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE) is a scientific / technical Association coprisning about 4000 members in 100 countries, counting 48 National Groups worldwide. Founded in 1929 it has its seat in Zurich, Switzerland. The President of IABSE (2010-2013) is Predrag Popovic, USA. IABSE deals with all aspects of structural engineering: the science and art of planning, design, construction, operation, monitoring and inspection, maintenance, rehabilitation and preservation, demolition and dismantling of structures, taking into consideration technical, economic, environmental, aesthetic and social aspects. The term 'Structures' includes bridges, buildings and all types of civil engineering structures, composed of any structural material.
